This past Friday night marked Charter Arts’ first Zumbathon! The best part? It was all for charity.
Mr. Chaban, leader of fitness club, teaches Zumba classes every Tuesday from 3:15-4:15. The fitness club partnered with Aubrie’s Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, started by the wife of Charter Arts’ history teacher, Mr. Shuman. Fitness Club organized this charity event and 100% of the proceeds went directly to families in need, who are touched by C.F. Cystic Fibrosis affects the lungs and the ability to breathe. The foundation aids in finding a cure to the lifelong genetic condition.
For the event, the club designed t-shirts saying, “Get Funked Up” and sold tickets throughout the month. The event took place in the Commons Cafe and members of the fitness club, as well as a few teachers, helped Mr. Chaban lead the workouts. When the time came, the commons filled with students from all majors, as well as parents and teachers. Everyone gathered and did Zumba for an hour and a half straight!
Hopefully everyone who attended the Zumbathon had fun supporting a great cause. Thanks to Mr. Chaban for working hard to organize the event to benefit the Aubrie’s Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. If you missed the Zumbathon, or just can’t get enough, come to fitness club every Tuesday after school from 3:15-4:15 for a great Zumba workout!
