Humans of Charter Arts: Mr. Madden-Cox

Mr. Madden-Cox, English Faculty

“Seeing Laramie Project and the first poetry reading that I read at, which was the Winter Poetry Reading of 2015, are my favorite memories, I think. Because both of them really showed me just how talented our students are, in a way that I hadn’t seen as much of the production of our students’ artistic efforts until then. I had seen some things, but then seeing the performance of Laramie Project was very moving. I cried a little bit. Actually a lot. Yeah, just sobbed the entire time. And then, the Poetry Reading was really amazing because usually when you think of teenagers writing poetry, you don’t think of what our students produce for our poetry readings. And I also saw some of the art there and it was like being in a real gallery.”
