The Language Department is directed by Mme Gournet (French), and is comprised of teachers Sra. Bardales (Spanish), Sra. Musselman (Spanish), and Mx. Stoop (Chinese/Asian Studies). Mme Gournet is a native French speaker from Reims, France. She enjoys teaching French and is an advocate for the language. Sra. Bardales is from Peru and has been teaching Spanish since 2001. She also has a bachelors degree in Social Work and a MA degree in Spanish Culture and Language. Sra. Musselman joined Charts in 2015 and has studied and lived in Mexico, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Spanish (Temple University) and is working on earning her Master of Education degree at East Stroudsburg University. Mx. Stoop received their BA in Chinese and East Asian studies at Ursinus College and previously lived in Nanjing, China for four months. They are also a certified Yoga instructor who is happy to share their experience with students.

The Visual Art Department is directed by Ms. Reinhard and consists of teachers Mr. Fickes, Ms. Krieg, and Mr. Brinker. Ms. Reinhard has been a part of the faculty since the beginning. She has a Bachelor in Art Education and a Masters in Figurative Painting. She has also studied classical technique and methodology at Barnstone Studios located in Coplay, PA and her work includes figure, portraiture, still lives, and landscapes. Mr. Fickes graduated from Millersville University, earning a degree in Art Education. He has been teaching at Charter Arts since 2015. Outside of work, he works as a photographer, a digital retouch artist, and a graphic designer. Ms. Krieg earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education from Mansfield University with a continued education in Drawing, Painting, and Portraiture at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. She has also trained in the studio of Carlo Russo, an artist from Philadelphia. Mr. Brinker has been a part of Charter Arts since 2005 and is a graduate of Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. He has taught at Lehigh University and advised student design teams for their integrated Product Development Program. He was also a speaker at the 2005 National Endowment for the Humanities Institute on Bach. The department strives to help art students excel at their passion and to teach discipline through art.

The Science Department is headed by Mrs. Horvath and consists of teachers Mr. Zameroski, Mrs. Kemp, Mrs. Keller, Mr. Janowski, and Mr. Huber. Mrs Horvath received a B.A in Biology in 1992 from Bryn Mawr College and joined Charts faculty in 2006. She likes the energy and creativity students bring to the classroom. Mr. Zameroski graduated from Penn State University, earning a Bachelor in Life Science. He teaches both math and science at Charter Arts and has been teaching for the past seven and a half years. Outside of school, he enjoys watching football. Mrs. Kemp graduated from Kean University and is certified in biology, environmental science, and physical science. She is currently serving on the student culture committee. Mrs. Keller is a Kutztown graduate with a bachelor of science in Secondary Science Education, concentrating on Space and Earth sciences. This school year is her third at Charter Arts and she is also the coordinator for the SAP team. Mr. Janowkski earned his Bachelors in Physics from the University of Virginia and his teaching certification from West Chester University. He enjoys helping students connect science and art together. Mr. Huber graduated from East Stroudsburg University, earning a bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Pennsylvania Secondary Education Teaching Certification in Biology. He is also a mountain bike athlete and loves the backcountry. The science department strives to inspire students to explore and question the world around them.
